San Rafael Swell

Jason and I have had a little cabin fever lately and have been anxious to get outside, particularly in nature. We decided to take a day trip to the San Rafael Swell this past Sunday. Our good friends, Jeff and Shannon came with us and we had a great time.

We first drove to the Wedge Overlook, which looks like a smaller version of the Grand Canyon. The canyon is actually called Little Grand Canyon. We hung out at the overlook for a while and it was nice to take a breather while enjoying the sunshine and the incredible view.

Next, we traveled down into the Buckhorn Wash about five miles east where we came to some indian pictographs. There have been Fremont, Paiute and Ute indians that have lived in that area, so we don't know which Native American culture made the paintings. The paintings were so beautiful and very clear.

Jason and I had a great time enjoying the company of our friends and scenic Utah. We cannot wait to explore more of Utah this year. Jason and I have often told each other how much we love where we live and love what Utah has to offer by way of outdoor activities. Go Utah (the state, not the school)! Sorry Em....
